form mumbai you'll have to take a train to delhi.
from delhi there are 2 trains to kathgodam, the nearest rail head to nainital (approx 30kms):-
1. Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Exp.
Dep : old delhi 1600hrs
Arr : Kathgodam 2200 hrs
2. Ranikhet Exp.
Dep: old delhi 2300hrs
Arr: Kathgodam 0600hrs
From kathgodam you can easily hire a cab to nainital. its a 1 - 1.5hr drive
