Ummmmm..... whoever told you that has their information mixed up actually your ideas are actually true, Its o.k to care about what people think about us were human but you don't have to care to an extent that you base your life on what others think, so basically what im saying is your ideas are fine but no ones rock solid we all have feelings and if you don't pay too much attention to what people think about you that means you have selfesteem....... hope that helps bya : )

Actually, not worrying about what others think about you is the opposite. It's the result of not feeling inferior to others, which is saying your self-esteem is okay. Now, if it is a knee-jerk reaction to disapproval, where someone builds a wall to protect themselves and then they say they don't care because they're trying real hard not to care, that's different. That is low self-esteem. Are you an optimist? If you're an "up" type person, you are probably exhibiting healthy self-esteem. It's not so much about do you worry about what others think, as how much do you let it affect your vision of yourself, and how much does it affect your happiness/unhappiness.

No, absolutely not. Having that attitude makes you a stronger person. You're more happy with yourself and life. If you did care what people thought it would bring you down make you depressed then of course you would have low self esteem. I think whoever told you that is off the wall.

sure I care .I don't want people to get the wrong impression of me.They don't have to agree with me on my issues, but I wouldn;t want folks to think badly of me in my own personal life.also I id take the criticsm from whence it comes.some people gossip just because they only know to do that,so I don't care what they have to say about my life choices. When I left my abuser, his family sure had a lot to say.I didn't really care, because I knew what they were saying wasn't true. That is not low self esteem.but empowerment.I have only gotten stronger over the years.Stand for something....

No, I don't think that is the wrong attitude to have. To me, I don't care about what other people think of me, but for my family members and my love one, then I do care what they think and feel about me. Because I do care and love them as much as they love me.

I am tact, respectful but I am always myself. If someone wants to talk about me, and my name comes up, I have no control. I don't listen to gossip and stick up for people that talk badly of my friends. I also don't involve in that stuff. Yes, I'm sure everybody needs somebody to care about them. Low self esteem is when you try to please everybody and you can't so its quite opposite of you. Be happy you have a strong sense of self. Being average, it hurts but I just move on and don't make a mountain of a molehill.

Well, to some extent we all care. It's human nature to want to be liked. I don't know about low self-esteem, but I think you're very unaware of who you really are if you don't recognize that we ALL need to some sort of affirmation from others.

Someone said that to you- sounds like a cop out to me. I don't believe that for one second and your last choice of words are very positive and healthy- good for you! Esteem comes from faith within, if someone cannot accept you for everything you are- then they have a problem with themselves, not you. I think you have a great upbeat attitude.

That's okay. Nobody shouldn't care what others say. But since people do judge, it's better to be talked about in a good way. Be cool, appropriate, friendly,etc...but not just to look good for the "people", but to feel good inside too.....

I could care less what others think and say about me, and I do not have low self esteem.
The problem with humanity is we are so caught up by what others think and feel about us....that we forget what is most important...how WE think and feel about ourselves.
