I was told by many when I started my own company, that it would probably fail or, at best, be somewhat profitable.
However, due to the confidence my customers and suppliers had in me, the start up was strong and within the first two months profitable.
Now, seven years later, with a comfortable growth of about 20% per year, it is very profitable.
My employees are very well paid, as am I, and the company has a solid foundation. Solid enough to allow me to take eight to ten weeks off each year.
I guess they were wrong.

I was told I couldn't play "Rock'n'Roll Hoochie Koo" by Rick Derringer on guitar. Not only did I play it, but I played it on a classical 12-string guitar with a neck that was three inches wide! The audience cracked up - it was great!

I was told that I couldn't eat 10 hot dogs in one sitting. I proved them wrong and ate 10 more.

Yuppers. But you need to be reasonable. Don't say that you can do things out of a fat ego. Do it because you are being reasonable and can see the road to success.
