They are told to not befriends with jews or other non-muslims. Is this discriminatory or do muslims believe that a christian or jew is a human being too?

No they are not racist at all, in fact it is the first religion to speak against racism. Islam teaches that Jews and Christians should be respected because they also believe in the one true god. There may be a few freaks out there, but they are the exception to the normal everyday Muslim. There are Jewish and Christian freaks out there too you know?
