Anywhere from just a few hours, to all day, depending on the tour.

I think these guys have the best helicopter tours

Just to back up the good info "vegasdog" gave you about the West Rim tours > the company I listed about does have a bus tour to there. It's a visit to the Hualapai Indian reservation, the tour takes all day and includes meals

You can tour the South, North, West rims, and the bottom of the canyon, you can go by Helicopter, Airplane or Motor Coach. You just have to find the tour that fits your budget, and takes you to where you want to go...

These guys have the same, West Rim Indian Reservation tour, that is.

San Francisco is a long way away from the Grand Canyon - maybe I misunderstand your question.

Regardless...

I managed to get a free ride on the Maverick helicopter tours last fall and it was amazing. It's a few hours total to go out, land in the canyon and have a champagne breakfast (not sure what they do for lunch or dinner), hang out for awhile, and fly back. If you have the money they are definitely the best.

If you have your own car in Vegas you can drive out to the Indian reservation on the west rim of the canyon in 2-3 hours (may have been less, but either way we made it out, spent a few hours there, and made it back before dark). A 14-mile (or so) stretch of that is on dirt road, which is usually against the terms on a rental car contract. But it is much closer, not really developed, and less crowded than going on a tour bus all the way around. Also, there are no guard rails.

The Grand Canyon is one among those beatuiful position. i choose your moms and dads ought to spend more effective time there and quite have an outstanding time with it. lots of the bus journeys bypass to the Grand Canyon West Rim. it quite is a vacationer capture it really is operated via the Indian Reservation. it quite is interior the route of Vegas inspite of if the perspectives are literally not a spectacular. Grand Canyon nationwide Park is the suitable position to artwork out Grand Canyon. The pressure is a splash more effective, yet quite worth it. the suitable time to artwork out the Canyon it at sunrise or dusk.

If you are at the south rim (the most popular) plan on a day. If you have the time, spend the night there. Its 6 hours to Vegas.

The west rim is three hours from vegas
