Can I buy a house in the USA?
I am a UK citizen, I have been working in the USA on visas since 2001. Would it be possible for me to purchase a house in the USA?

Anyone can buy property in the USA, if you have the money or financing. Some "rental" homes in the US, particularly in college towns are owned by foreign corporations and rented to college students. Even if you might not be able to legally live or stay in the US, you can still buy property, just like a US citizen could buy an automobile in Germany (getting it back into the US is a different story).

Your only hardship, if you don't have the cash, would be to arrange financing.

Yes. There is no law for foreigners to own property in America. It might give you a green card is the cost of the house is large enough. There was a law many years ago that if you invested $50,000 as a foreigner you would be entitled to citizenship. I don't know what it is now.
