you know how ppl say, that its doesn't matter your how great your "potential" is if you never uses it? In this term, people use potential as maximum talent or ability one has (not necessary what he does have). What is a word for "state of one's potential"?
in another words, i want to say...
"it doesn't matter you could or you could have, it is not about your potentials. It is where you are and what you are doing, it is your ______" i need another word for it. Kinda of like the whole argument of Talented people that are lazy, and untalented people with hard work. Obviously, i'm looking for the word that correlates to hard work. Best answer gets 10 pts

I think what you want to say is that it is not about potential, it is about effort. You only get back what you put in.

do you mean "fortitude"? that is strength of mind that allows you to get through any situation or adversity
(p.s. it's one of my favourite words. also, fyi, the stone lions in front of the New York City Library are named "Patience" and "Fortitude"
