her parent getting a divorce and i dont know what to tell her or say to her to brighten her up can anyone suggest

There is nothing you can say that will help!
Just listen to her talk & say mmmm that must be awful for you etc but mainly just let her talk to get it all off her chest & even give her a cuddle if she looks like she needs one
don't give her any advice & don't run any of her parents down

Just be a good and supportive friend to her during this hard time in her life. be a listening ear and a shoulder she can lean on and someone she can talk to at any time. this will make her feel the best. Being there for her is the best thing you can do and give to her to help. Trust me on this one.

The best things you can do right now (and what she needs most of all) is for you to be a supportive friend, and listen to her when she needs to talk

yeah, just listen. thats the best thing you can do if youve never been in her position. and keep her busy. go and do fun things to take her mind off of it.
