In this order of greatness most to least. The Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill, Family Guy, American Dad.... There is one you can add to that list which is Futurama which is on the cartoon network which is as good as The Simpsons and is made by one of the creators of The Simpsons, check it out.

Family Guy and South Park are my favorites, but I also like American Dad and King of the Hill.

The Simpsons, and here's why:
The Simpsons is the father of all animated family sitcoms. It's been around 18 seasons since the late 80's, early 90's. It started out low key in the Tracy Ullman shorts and then gradually gained fame through seasons. It's covered all the topics: child abuse (Homer strangles Bart), homosexuality (the episodes "There's Something About Marrying", "Homer's Phobia", etc.), class presidency (Lisa is the class president), shoplifting (Bart shoplifts) and the Mafia (Fat Tony).
Basically, it's covered everything and stays in quality over the years. Family Guy has lost its quality since the 3rd and 4th season. The jokes are unbearably irrelevant. The show has no moral values whatsoever. King of the Hill is the most low key show you can ever watch (I'm impressed with the animation because the same guy who draws it did animation for "Beavis and Butt-Head"). Nobody ever watches it. American Dad is great, too, and it hits the most anti-American issues you can hit. South Park is the worst. Bad animation. Horrible jokes. Complete immorality.

The Simpsons is still the best. Family guy is just a Simpsons ripoff with more vulgarity thrown in; King of the Hill offers more of a dry humor; American Dad isn't even close.
