I would want a job that would leave me flexible enough to go to technical college or community college or local in-state college at the same time.
Knowledge is where it's at in this current economy. A few years at a local community college is going to give you the potential to change your world, job-wise.
You are probably going to look to try to be in the $10-$12 / hour range. Delivering Pizza. UPS. Fed Ex. Administrative Assistant. Temp Work.

You can earn reasonable wages at a manufacturing plant. The environment is usually not nice. There is usually a risk of injury. The pay and benefits are usually better than fast food or similar places. In short, unskilled labor doesn't get much. You are paid more because of the danger and the fact that few want to do the work. If you can get a job at an automotive plant, that usually pays much better. Also consider whether or not you want to join a union. Sometimes it is good, other times unions stink. It all depends upon the union and the politics. It helps if you have a good boss. If you can talk with your boss, then you don't want the union. If not, then the union can talk for you.

Grocery Store. Most stores do not require any experience, and if it is union you could be journeyman within three years. Journeyman is between $15 - $20 an hour depending where you live. $20/hr x 2080hr/year = $41600.00 a year. If you are 18 when you get hired , then by 22 you are making $40k a year. Not too bad.

Forget it. Honestly. Not trying to ruin anyone's day here-- just bringing folks back to reality. This is the 21st century, where people can rarely become rich without the use of a college diploma/vast connections.
