Ok so I want to be a pharmacist. Everyone says I could be a doctor b/c I'm good at math & science, but I practically faint at the sight of blood. So I thought pharmacist was the next best career choice haha.

Anyways we're always having to do these career planning packets & stuff at my school so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the education, college credits & classes, ect. required to get a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Also, do you think West Virginia University has a good pharmacy program ? And how much can I expect to make ? Thanks so much!

Pharmacy is a great career for people who are good at math and science and would like to help people without actually getting blood on themselves!!!!

You need to do as much chemistyr and math in HS as possible. Them you go to a college and study chemistry and bio for two years, then either transfer into the College of Pharmacy, or apply to the College of pharmacy, depending how the system works at your state university. Getting into the Pharmacy school is usually very competitive - you will need a 3.5 or so in your science pre reqs. Once you are in you will do three years of hard courses with many hours of internship, then your 4th year you will do a series of residencies in community, hopistal, nursing home, and research facilities. Then you graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) and make a pile of money - about $100,000 a year.

Go for it!

Pharmacy colleges do no longer require you to have a bachelors degree to be admitted. yet do require particular classes be carried out with minimum grades. you will would desire to have such classes like Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Calculus and better counting on the college. circulate to the community Pharmacy colleges web site and that they're going to checklist all the classes you would be able to desire to persist with for admission. solid good fortune. (right that's an occasion for The college of Oklahoma Pharmacy software).
