I quit tipping non-white servers myself. And DORKFACE, you really are living up to your name. I dont tip simply because i dont like them. I dont want them in this country. And i hope they get the hint and leave. I do whatever I can to make it as uncomfortable for them to be in this country. WAKE UP AMERICA, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!

Well, I can't agree because most of the waitstaff I encounter speaks English. And if they do speak another language with each other, who cares? As long as they know enough English to converse with me, they are trying to fit into this country. And aren't you full of yourself to think that you are soooo important that they would actually talk about you. The only thing they are probably saying is, "Oh, that cheap ****** is here again....you take that table, I don't want him!"
Since it seems you have never had a waitstaff position before...I will explain to you that their pay is about $2/hour. And they work HARD. Kissing people's back ends is not fun. Those tips are their source of income.
Furthermore, if you are going to restaurants where they can't speak English....then stop going. Why don't you "wake up" yourself and boycott the places!
Okay, I looked at your profile....as long as we are talking about illegals---then not only should you be avoiding tips, you should be avoiding the restaurants and reporting it. Sorry, I was a bit harsh without considering you were talking about illegals.

I think you're being paranoid. I don't care if they're talking about me anyway even if they are. What are they saying anyway, like "Hey look at that stupid American over there, he doesn't know that he just ordered pickled rooster feet?" I tip based on the quality of the service. If it's average, I give 15%. Better, 20%. But if it's really slow and the server is apathetic, slamming down the drinks and plates, then I give 0-10%.

I agree that it is rude for servers to speak another language among each other in front of the customers. It is not good etiquette.
However, I do not think it is appropriate to NOT tip a server, just because they are ignorant of etiquette protocol. Give them the benefit of the doubt here. Leave a tip if your service warrants a tip. I usually leave 15% if service was average or less. If I get stellar service, I leave at least 20%.
If you leave the ethnicity out of your decision-making, you will find that you are faced with a decision of good service or bad service. Fill out the customer survey card, often found in restaurants, or go to their Web site, and send your thoughts to corporate. Leave emotion out of your complaint - stick to the facts. Only in this way will your complaint be taken seriously.

Whoa!!! Since when is serving one of those jobs white Americans won't do. I'm a server and most of my fellow employees are white and those that are Hispanic have English as their first language or are so fluent that it seems to be their first language. Second of all, if you're a jerk, if they aren't talking about you if front of you in a foreign language, you can be sure they are talking about you in the kitchen.
And for other people who answered this question SERVERS DON'T MAKE A HABIT OF SPITTING IN FOOD!!!!!I'm sure it's happened, but I have never done it, I will never do it, I have never seen anyone do it in all my years of serving. We are people just like you, we are not animals or social outcasts. We are decent people. Would you spit in someone's food? If not (I hope not) then why assume we servers are so low and crude as to do it???? I hate assumptions about us just because of the work we do.

well it's true i feel like that sometimes too when ever i go to a foreign resturant, but then i think what do they have to talk about me? I didn't do anything to them. They don't even know me they just give me food and want my money. Most people from different countries that are in america have at least two languages so they'll know that it's polite to tip. Then when you leave if you don't tip they'll remember you and they'll have a reason to talk behind your back and say to others that your an inconsiderate jerk.

If you are cheap, don't tip.
They will spit in your food.
If you want their job, ask for it.
You probably don't qualify....
If Americans don't want the job,
Who will be serving you??
What do you care, what they
are saying?? As long as you
are getting good service.....
Don't think that if they are not
speaking English at the moment,
that they can't....And don't think
they don't know what's up.
If someone speaks two languages
and owns their own business, the
least you can do, if you are not
going to tip, is be respectful.
Thinking someone is not an
American , just because they
can speak another language,
or they look different than you,
is at the least really showing
your IQ.............an Racist.

Servers make less than minimum wage and count on tips as part of their salary.Unless the service is lousy, I tip 15%, 20% if the service was really good. 2 of my kids worked as servers through collage and it was hard work and you have to put up with jerks like you.

Because you are being paranoid, does not mean you should not tip a sever, Maybe you should just eat at home or go to a buffet., that way, you will not have to tip anyone of any race. Bon appe'tit !!!

You're paranoid. They aren't talking smack about you, they're probably just talking about normal things that English speaking people talk about too. However, if they're talking to their friends while they should be serving you, I agree, you shouldn't tip them.
