Singapore is a FINE country.
Jaywalking -- Fine $500!
Littering -- Fine $500!
Spitting -- Fine $500!
Eating in Public Transportation -- Fine $1000!
Joke aside, Singapore is one of the best cities in Asia.
Very efficient public transportation. The general population speak competent English. Cheap electronic goods.
The government is run very efficiently. Minimal corruption. Respected government leaders globally.

I visited around 1985. The placed seemed to me very impressing. They have those skyscrappers, shopping centers... Though the city has a certain British feel, the atmosphere is mostly Asian, with plenty of Chinese or Malayan immigrants giving neighbourhoods a very vibrant and bustling character.
Traffic is intense in the city (which by the way is densely populated) and taxis resemble those old London cabs, if I remember well... The city's infrastructure is really amazing, I have vivid memories of Radcliffe square and how fast paced life transcurs around it. (Keep in mind SIngapore is a key world financial hub). The city's symbol is a Lion that also appears on bills and coins.

Singapore is a nice country, lots of nice people actually.
people think it's stinky ands stuff, but its actuall pretty nice...especially if you know the language, bro. :]
