At the moment no i dont think you should be concerned .. As you said you have been rather sick with this pregnancy and when you cant keep food down then you cant put on weight. Hopefully you should start feeling better as you go in to your second trimester and will be able to eat your normal diet again and thats when your weight will settle down.
If your still not feeling better soon, ide suggest that you go and see your doctor and explain to him whats happening maybe theres something he can give you to stop the morning sickness. Try crackers or dry toast and see if you can keep that down.
Good Luck

I would consult your doctor or other medical professional. In my first pregnancy, I weighed 124 originally, and lost down to 108 by about the 8th week or so... That's 16 pounds. But by about my 6th month, my severe vomiting had stopped, and I ended up weighing 134 when I went into labor. With my second pregnancy, I weighed 115 originally, and lost down to 104. (By the way, I am 5'7", and I looked like a skeleton!) And by about the 4 and 1/2 th month, my severe vomiting had stopped, and I ended up weighing 145. Both of these pregnancies required medical intervention and IV's and hospitals... but there is light at the end of the tunnel! And it's all worth it... every heave and groan... it's all insignificant when compared with the joy of seeing and knowing your child...

But if you don't get help from someone, it could turn into a much more serious matter. So... I would recommend being concerned enough to go to the doctor and see what he/she says at the very least. And remember that whatever has to happen to your body to keep that life inside of you healthy and growing... it is worth it... and it reaps a reward that will last for the rest of your life.

Hello, I am 33 wks pregnant right now and experienced the same problem that you seem to be experiencing now. I lost ALOT(25 lbs) of weight during my first trimester also. This was due to the morning sickness and everything. I talked it over with my ob-gyn and they told me that it is normal for women (especially if even a little overweight) to lose weight during the first trimester, which I was about 30 lbs overweight. It's VERY important to take a vitamin, which I know is hard because they make you sick as a dog most of the time but there is a prenatal vitamin called Premesis RX they gave me, if you aren't covered by insurance i believe it is about $45 for a bottle of 30 but it is well worth it because it actually helps with the sickness, or at least it helped me alot(made it so I could actually eat!). My doctor also told me not to make myself feel guilty for being sick and not being able to eat a ton or anything (the feel-like-a-bad-mother syndrome) just make sure you keep in touch with your doctor on the issue so they can make sure you don't start losing too much and start becoming unhealthy(danger for baby AND you). Plus the morning sickness and everything generally ends around 13-15 weeks so hang in there and good luck! : )

It's okay and in fact pretty common to lose weight in your first trimester from morning sickness. Once you get about 14 weeks along it would get to be a concern if the vomiting and diarrhea don't improve. The stomach problems usually improve after the first trimester so give it another couple of weeks and then see your doctor if you don't get better. Sorry you feel so rotten, but comgatulations on your pregnancy and good luck.

I have heard that often women lose weight in the first trimester, particularly if they have a lot of morning sickness. Usually, when this happens, they start gaining it back during the second trimester when the morning sickness subsides. If your doctor isn't concerned and you didn't start out underweight, it is probably just fine.

Congratualtions on your pregnancy !!!!!

I lost about 7 lbs in my first trimester but only because I didn't know I was pregnant and was eating drastically healthier anyways. I think 15 lbs in 11 weeks, with severe vomiting and diarrhea should be reported to your OB immediately. It doesn't sound normal to me...and your baby might not be getting the nutrients he/she needs.

I lost weight in my first trimester. I didn't lose 15 pounds but I came close. You should always talk to your dr if you have concerns.

nope perfecty normal!!

what is happening is the energy its taking to make the baby is coming from your energy supply..aka stored fat.

i was like 180 when i got pregnant and by the time i was 5 months i had lost 18 lbs.... then i finally started to gain that weight back.... and i never even had morning sickness!
