Yes, there have been cases that sounds alot like what you described... it's called a psychological pregnancy... your mind convinces your body that you are pregnant somehow... but it's just not carrying a fetus physically... I think I went through that once ... I wanted to have 12 children so badly that I might have done that at one time,... I did have a few miscarriages and had 6 children. I now believe that it's better that I had the six and I'm grateful !

a pseudopregnancy is a false pregnancy. it's very uncommon, but when it does happen it's more likely to take place in underdeveloped areas that don't have access to modern medical treatments. in a pseudopregnancy, the woman goes through most of the stages of pregnancy - gaining weight, having morning sickness - some even experience labor - without actually being pregnant. it is less likely to happen in modern cultures because of prenatal testing procedures which would indicate that the woman wasn't actually pregnant. it's also thought to occur more likely in cultures where having children is considered one of the woman's only roles and where women who are able to have children are in a better societal position.

although this happens, it really is extremely rare

yes . a woman may stop her menstrual cycle and even gain weight and look pregnant . this is as a result of some difficulties within the mind . this is a well known condition and is a treatable condition.
