Yes.I would be upset. All it takes is a little caring to make us ladies happy.
WHY don't men 'get' that?

Well,

What is Valentine's Day? Do you know where it originates? Do you understand the difference from what it was to what it is now? Do you really think that you deserve a gift simply because it is Feb. 14th? Who led you to believe these things?

What did you buy for him?

The point is this. You should not gauge your significant other by what he buys for you on some sad holiday. If he takes care of you in the ways that are important, then you are lucky. And if he does not, then you are not lucky. Either way, buying you a gift on fake holiday is no measure of either. To be specific, if your man beats you when he is frustrated, but buys you a gift on V-day, you are lucky? And if your man is considerate of your feelings most of the days, concerned with your health, well-being, and TRUE happiness, and he doesn't buy you a gift, then you are unlucky?

Most likely if you have posed such a question, you are either shallow or ignorant.

I hope you are ignorant.

And I wont apologize for being honest.

It is reasonable to be upset in such a situation, but do not take it to the extreme. Directly confronting him about it may bring about unneccessary anger, so the best option would be try to make him inflict guilt upon himself. Maybe you should get him a little something, then happily tell him you're ready to exchange gifts. When he has nothing, act really disappointed and hurt (but do not display anger). This might be enough to trigger a desired response.

If he loves you, isn't that enough? Why do women expect men to buy things on certain days of the year? Isn't love about buying you gifts at a spur of the moment, rather than specialized holidays, where card, candy, flower, and apparel companies make profits?

I see all answers are from fellow women...so here's a man's prespective..
Men are not as sensitive as women (fact), but I realize that women do need that attention...so it is something that needs to be worked out between the 2 of you. You do or honestly try to do the things that he likes, and tell him I did this and that, and I made an effort..now, you need to do the same.
Men and women are different in almost everything.
Good luck!!

If you get mad and he doesn't care, then it's not worth the effort of getting angry. And I imagine you've talked about it before. If it means a lot to you that you celebrate, take control. Make reservations to eat out, or surprise him with a candlelight dinner. Maybe you could make an invitation and give it to him a few days before hand, then he'll know you're doing something special and can be prepared. And if not, remember that giving is better than receiving and expect nothing. You kind of get used to it :)

I can say that if he forgot, then yes, you should be upset. But, if he didn't buy something because he wants to do something romantic, thats ok. Remember that story with the girl with really long hair who cut it and sold it to buy a chain for her husband's pocket watch, and the husband sold his watch to buy combs for her hair? It should be his intentions that count.

He needs a lesson in love. Don't buy him anything this time and show him how it feels.
