My husband and I are going away for a week....
If something happens to us, we want the baby to stay and live with my parents who live in Colombia, south america.

That's a general Power Of Attorney. You can get a form for it at most bookstores, or you can spend a bunch of $$$ for an attorney.

Legal Guardian (if you want a document just for your son do not use a will,use a will for all you things..) Talk with a Lawyer

have to go to an attorney and have papers drawn up for legal guardianship.
if the father is still around and wants custody, it is automatic. he will take precedence over this unless he waves his legal rights.
but check your state laws. not sure about where you live.

You need a will, stipulating who will become the guardian of your child in the event something goes awfully wrong. Have the will filed in this country.

Snoweagle is right. You need to have someone that agrees with you plans and name them in a will. You will need a lawyer to make sure you do this properly.

You would put that in your will, have a living will as well as a power of attorney
