I know someone (family) who is anti social, but now she wants to be more social, what can she do, she is so set in her ways, but willing to try new things step by step

Well you don't want to jump right in to a huge social gathering. what you need to do is to get her going out a little in small groups like with you and a few of your friends. Make a point of talking about things she is interested in. This should help her to relax and will also help the others in the group get to know her a little better.

first time out go for pizza stay away from big groups. next time maybe a party move her in slow make sure you introduce her to people so next time she wont have to worry about not knowing any one. If you keep her talking you got a lot better chance at getting her to make friends then she can take over her own social life.

Make sure you give her lots of advice though.

Well, if she wants to be social, that's the first step to overcoming anti-socialness. Also, have her call some of her acquaintances and strike up a conversation so she'll make more friends.

get off your comfort zone and start saying hi to people and think of questions you can ask them
