Society pictures a redneck as an uneducated, ignorant hillhilly, with neither scruples nor manners, can not (nor will not) speak proper English, drives a pickup truck (usually with oversize wheels), spits at road signs or whatever animal happens to cross their path, drinks Papst Blue Ribbon beer out of a can, shoots at whatever (or whoever) happens to be in their way, sits on a front porch in the summer blasting Waylon Jennings smoking a roll your own cigarette (with home grown tobacco) or having a big plug of chewing tobacco in their mouth, wears t-shirts with the sleeves cut off or in the winter wears that same t-shirt with a plaid work shirt, barefoot and pregnant (if female), has a tattoo of anything somewhere on their body, thinks Jeff Foxworthy is an idol to worship, uses a satellite dish as a bird feeder, and I could write a book. How do I know these things? Because I live in redneck country and I am proud of it, if only to dispel ignorance such as I have seen with the questions answered here. The truth is a redneck might be a lot of things but in my book they are common people who don't have all the hangups associated with the bullshit given to their name, and that redneck you may be putting down today might be that same EMT that pulls your *** out of your souped up super sport when you crash driving like an idiot talking on your cell phone while adjusting your rear view mirror to see how good you look, or it might be that kid that died in Iraq trying to give you your rights as an American citizen. So before you knock anyone take a long hard look in the mirror because not all REDNECKS are stupid nor what they appear to be.

Redneck is an offencive term for a white farm hand in the southern United States (especially one regarded as uneducated or aggressively prejudiced) or an offencive term for somebody who is opposed to liberal social changes (especially somebody regarded as prejudiced). So don't use the word "redneck" because it's bad!!!(lol)

A redneck is someone who hasn't been out in the world, usually lives in a small town with small minded people and is totally void of any class, but is too ignorant to realize this. And to the one answerer...redneck and hillbilly are two completely different groups.

It is usually a rebel from the south east of the US, who is considered to have a lack of intelligence and is rude and obnoxious. They have large trucks and have tattoos and wear bandannas and chew tobacco. Not everyone in the south is a redneck, just like not everyone in the north is a yankee, it's a personality. Redneck is just another stupid stereotype. I hope that helped, try not to live by a stereotype!

kinda like a hillbilly but not always a farmer.... and just a little tid bit of info about rednecks, if you marry somebody in ur family ur considered to be a "redneck", and have alot of junk

A southern guy that wears his pants so tight that his balls are screaming by the time he gets on his horse"please don't get on the horse!" please don't get on the horse"!And a redneck girl wears those tight pants too,with those funky looking redneck boots ,and they tend to wear teashirts with a redneck lookin' flag on it,and they like to play musuc that makes the neighborhood dogs cry!
