I've heard tons of disney songs on disney channel, mostly by people like Aly and AJ who sing about believing in yourself, being open to new experiences, the best parts about growing up, taking a leap of faith, all it matters is who you want to be, etc.etc. Sounds familiar? It's the opening of the disney channel original movie theme song Just For You that plays every time before the movie starts. You can write about things that kids love, like wishing upon a star, or being ambitious.
Here are some DCOM songs you might like to listen to for more inspiration:
Circle of Life (lion king)
At the Beginning (anastasia)
Journey to the Past (anastasia)
Colours of the Wind (pocahontas)
Wish Upon A Star (peter pan)
A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes (cinderella)
That Girl by Lindsay Lohan (confessions of a teenage drama queen)
Good Life (stuck in the suburbs)
Cheetah girl songs from the soundtrack (too many to list)
High School Musical songs
Tarzan songs by Phil Collins
I Still Believe by Hayden Panettiere (cinderella 3)
But if you're writing for a specific movie ask for the title and the rough storyline, or pick a scene in the movie to write and put in.

Probably one of the best ideas would be a song based on your experiences that you would want to hand down to your own children someday. They may be inspired by present (or even past) feelings you've had when in a particular situation. Keep in mind, the song may be for a protagonist or an antagonist.

If you're in a good mood, the former, a bad mood, perhaps the latter. That will probably help set the tone.

As for ideas to draw from, perhaps you can draw from those situations that most children face today, whether they be peer pressure or the upcoming political, ethical or religeous decisions before them. It's ok to make 'light' of them, just don't offend them.
