James Jordan was basketball star Michael Jordan's father. He was murdered while returning from the funeral of a friend on July 23, 1993.
Jordan had pulled over onto a rest area off of Interstate 95 near Lumberton, North Carolina for a nap. Two locals, Daniel Green (who later changed his name to Lord D.A.A.S. U'Allah)[1] and Larry Martin Demery, shot Jordan in the chest and stole his $40,000 Lexus, a gift from Michael. The perpetrators also took two NBA championship rings Jordan was given by his son, in addition to various other jewelry and personal items. Green and Demery made several calls from Jordan's cell phone and as a result were quickly captured. James' body was found on August 3 in a swamp but was not identified until August 5. Larry Martin Demery was wearing a Michael Jordan T-shirt at the time of his arrest.
