I think the 3 people in it -were just actors. They still are alive. The movie seemed to fool alot of people who thought it was real.

No, it wasn't real. But it was so well done that people truly believed it was real at the time! Uber-creepy!

Most people did believe that the movie was real when it first came out.

The Producers of the movie even went as far as to go on TV stating that the movie was authentic. The newspapers all picked up on the story as well, and of course the tabloids thought that this was a dream come true.

The result was an astounding movie must see. People flocked to the theatres in droves. The box office return was more than anyone could have hoped for - especially considering that the movie was shot on a very low budget.

Have a lovely rest of the evening.

I thought it was real at first, and was really obsessive over it, until I was reading one of the books late one night...I flipped to the front inside pages and read where it was typed "This is a work of fiction. Any similarities between real people and events is strictly coincidental..." etc. I was so embarrassed because my step-dad had tried to tell me it was a big hoax, but I thought that some of the historical events had happened. From what I've found out, those events aren't even BASED on factual events.

The people in it were just actors, making what appears to be a cheap snuff film with lots of swearing. Not to say that it wasn't enjoyable. The director gave notes about what to do, and the cast adlibbed and shot themselves.

When I first saw it (and I'm no major baseball fan), I remember Mike talking about Cal Ripken Jr.'s success and thinking "Hey, wasn't this supposed to be movie reels found several years before, just now being released? They screwed up the timeline -- this stuff just happened!"

Didn't think it was real but...it got creepy when the stick-man showed up.

Guess even though we know it ain't real, somewhere deep down we have the innate fear of the unknown...so the Balie Witch took advantage of that. Those who thought it was real are just people who succumb to the fear of something like that might lurk in a place they haven't been to before, not that they are scared...just intruigued in a creepy way. :)

I used to believe it was real, when I was younger, but now I know that it was just a different genre of horror designed to leave the audience speculating on a lot of things, without actually having a frame of being real.

The movie fooled me for about a day. It scared the heck out of me.

I knew it was fake the first time I saw it. It’s still hard to believe so many were convinced by it. There are a lot of gullible people out there.

I didn't think it seemed like it could be a true story... but at the end there wasn't anything to say ....characters etc are fictional.
