What are some ways to help me quit biting/ picking my nails?

Question

I bite my nails a lot, and i sometimes pick my cuticles too.
I try to stop, but sometimes when im nervous about something
i start picking and biting. What are some ways to help me quit??

that bad tasting nail polish made just 4 that.
and if you need help 4 picking them, paint ur nails so that it looks really good and the design might always be at the top so u dont want to pick it off

I had this problem. What I did was put the Tammy Taylor nails on over my nails for about a month and a half. What this did was got me mentally prepared for not eating my nails. By the time I finally took them off, I no longer find my nails tasty. Now my nails are long, my fingers look more attractive and even my rings are more noticeable. Perhaps, this could help you.

You could try chewing gum, "mentally" (or physically if you want) slapping yourself when you go to bite your nails, or even nail polish at the store which tastes really bad. If you don't like hot stuff, you could also put your fingers in hot sauce, but I wouldn't recommend touching your face after that. I used to bite my nails all the time, but now I chew gum instead and sometimes if I can't find gum, I'll chew paper... atleast it's not my nails. :-)

My roomate and I have two different ways of trying to stop this...these are how we do it.

Mine: I rub fingernail polish remover on my finger nails so that every time I put them in my mouth it tastes AWFUL! I quickly stop biting, works for me.

My roomie: She puts a rubberband on her wrist like a bracelet and every time she bites she pulls back the band and pops herself...it makes her stop. :)

Or paint them...people usually won't bite painted nails.

Nail Hardener and Nasty nail polish. It tastes AWEFUL!!!

wrap it in tape(worked for me) or dip it in a cleaning product(havent tryed it)
