Have you checked out the P trap? To see if that is not clogged with something other than ice. The only section of pipe that holds water in a drain pipe is the P trap (a U shaped pipe inder the sink with compression fittings). This water keeps sewer gases from coming back into the house.

Have you tried heat on the pipes under the sink?

in accordance with what you need to use; a million.)Use a hair dryer on the pipes yet keep it shifting and don't set it on warm. A hair dryer can get warm sufficient to break seals, compression fittings. merely use your hand to aim the pipes for warmth. whether that's merely too warm to hold onto, then that's merely too warm! additionally be careful that no water can drip into the hair dryer or you're able to truly get taken aback. 2. Open the doors and use a fan to go some heat air back in and around the pipes. 3. blend a quart of the warm water with a a million/2-cup of table salt and pour it into the drain. it incredibly is going to help the melting technique. 4. to steer away from freezing sooner or later enable the faucet drip water 24 hours an afternoon till the climate warms up.

If you have pipes that freeze you can try using a blow dryer to warm the pipe so the water inside will melt. Salt may very well corrode your pipes depending on what they are made of and antifreeze is poisonous to animals and you know, its going to come out somewhere.
You can prevent frozen pipes by yes, insulating and keeping the cabinet doors open, also by keeping a very slow drip going so the water is always moving.

nice! i never thought of that, lol. if you know the weather is going to get below freezing, leave your cabinet doors open and leave the faucet dripping (both hot and cold water) a bit...it doesn't have to be a fast drip. a maintence man where i used to live told us to leave the faucets at both ends of the house dripping so the water keeps and to get some heat tape for the exposed pipes under the sink.
