A story your mother told you and her mother told her and so on IS THIS A NEVER ENDING STORY

Those are family histories, passed by each member of the family for centuries, as well as folktales, ancient beliefs by old cultures in the world, such as native Indiuans and Aboriginal Australians.
I do not think they are considered as real never-ending stories, because for those, there needs to be a specific tale to the story, an event, etcetera that keeps occuring.
Although, when I read your question, I immediately thought of the Never-Ending Story trilogy with Johnathan Brandis, which disgusted me to the point of bile as my sister loved the moves a lot and always watched them.

That can be considered a "Neverending Story". To me, the Neverending Story is what is considered to be the neverending imagination of humanity. A person's imagination can create just about anything. Animals, people, places whatever. So long as this continues, the imagination creates a neverending story, which will go on forever.

I don't know of such a story, and in any case why would you refer to it as "never ending"? Having a story passed on through generations does not make it a story with no ending.

I have been told stories that have been carried through several generations and I will definitely be passing them on to my children when I have them.

when you put it like that, yes i suppose i do. my mother used to tell me stories as a child that i will tell my daughter and she will no doubt tell her children one day.

The only one I know is about the three travellers sitting round a camp fire and on of them says "Charlie tell us a story" and this is the story Charlie told.
