As a punishment for not paying attention in class, my teacher assigned me to copy out an entire chapter from our biology textbook. My hand aches... and I only finished ONE section. There are 13!! I hate her. She's such a *****. For any little thing its a punishment. Owww. I'm going to kill her when my hand fall off.

Don't threaten her to her face--that will get you arrested and thrown out of your school, and put into a residential facility. How about paying attention instead of messing around? I guess there's always a need for someone to do those jobs the rest of us choose not to take. Unfortunately, those jobs don't pay very well.

I worked in a Catholic school with a teacher who would keep kids after school and make them copy the dictionary. Another had mischievous students copy the bible.

There is plenty a teacher can do if a student refuses to take the punishment. Uncooperative students get to move up the chain of command for insubordination.

Wow... that is quite a punishment!! I hope you learn something in the process.... (grin)...

I used to have a teacher that punished me (and my friends) by sending me outside to copy pages out of the dictionary. He didn't realize that a) he was sending me outside with my friends and b) I love words!!! I LOVED to get in trouble... lol.... it was so much more fun that math or English, or Social studies!!!!

Biology teachers are pretty serious about their subject. They know that Biology is the ONE grade that colleges look to as a benchmark for your level of success as a high school student. Why? Biology encompasses reading skills, science, math, and comprehension.... a good grade in Biology is actually quite important!!!

My suggestion would be to take your punishment THIS time and then pay attention in class.... this is obviously the teacher who you should take pretty seriously!!!

And by the way... once your hand falls off...how are you going to kill her???? It's pretty hard to weild a weapon with no opposing thumb on your dominant hand..... which, by the way, is that way because of genetics... oooh... a biology lesson right there!!!!

It will undoubtedly cause you to retain some of the information. Also, it will be a deterrent for future bad behavior in class. Why don't you just behave and follow the rules? It's much easier to do that than to copy 13 sections out of a biology book.

Remind her that the 8th amendment in the Bill of Rights protects you from "cruel and unusual punishment." If you go to a public school, technicall she's the "government" and the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution so that the government had limits on its powers.

its a rediculous punnishment, I would refuse- and there will be nothing that she can do...... she cant lower your grade, and she cant actualy force you to copy the text. Take controll of the situation. An educator has no right or authority to invent 'creative' punnishments. Idea: copy out an article on Carpell Tunnel syndrome and hand it to her with a bandaged wrist and a smile
