I'm in a education program full of professors and students who seem like hypocrites. Professors preach about how to treat students as individuals but treat us with coldness and indiscretion. My fellow classmates seem competitive, phony, and impersonal. I feel lonely and would like to feel welcome in the program but don't know how to go about it. It just seems like no one wants to be friends on a personal level. I try to open up to them but they are all business-like and stuffy. What can I do to feel safe/comfortable or find some fellow friends? I don't know how I am going to survive this! Can anyone relate? Does it seem like there is no warmth/community these days? Where do you find that?

I felt the same exact crap when I was in college years ago, and I dropped out...not because of that....but I hated the environment...you really described it like I remembered.

No wonder I just smoked alot of dope and rode alot of bicycle...that was fun and free and exciting.

Just get through it, and on to the next phase of your life and it will change...eventually - I'm guessing - you will find you're zone with like minded friends.

All that suffering will do wonders for you...Good Luck.
