Since caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict, some women find it can make menstrual cramps more severe.

On your period I recommend:
Exercise-it helps you sweat off some of the extra water and actually makes you feel more energetic.
A good sized serving of red meat
Lots of herbal tea-just because it's comforting
Comfy pants
Lay off the salt-you're already retaining enough water
Plenty of sleep at night
Use baby wipes to clean yourself after using the bathroom to help yourself feel fresher
Make sure you have a week's worth of granny panties stashed so you don't ruin the cute ones
Start taking Midol every four to six hours a day or two before you know you're going to start, so that your pain and bloating are controlled before they start
It's OK to indulge in a bowl of ice cream during that week, but not the whole carton and not every night

Midol contains caffeine because it will thin your blood, making the acetaminophen more effective.
It can also help if you're feeling tired.

Nothing bad.. think of the millions of women drinking millions of cups of coffee all the time!

Umm my mom says that it gives you horribel cramps and that it does something bad to your blood, like it intoxicats it. Well you should not eat fish, eggs, and you should drink hot chololate even though its caffeine. IT helps it really does.
