Maybe about 2 years ago I got a Creative Micro Zen mp3 player and a couple of days ago it wouldn't turn on. I recharged it and it worked fine. The next day I go to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on again. It's never done this before. Does that mean that I need to replace the battery with a new one? If I do replace the battery will I lose any of the music I have on it? Is the battery even the problem?

Also when I want to organize or synchronize music to it, my laptop no longer recognizes it nor the USB cable plugged into it. Does anyone know why that maybe? I tried downloading any updates from the Creative website but it wouldn't recognize the player.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Also when I do plug it in to my laptop it only charges the battery.

I have the same problem with my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. It plays fine, and then I can't get it to connect to my computer. It recognizes it and then the Creative soft on my computer completly shuts down...I think it might be a software problem in the mp3 player itself? They discontinued my product so I can't get any customer support....If you find a way to fix yours, let me know!!

I don't recommend using rechargeable batteries in an MP3 player. They loose their charge in time whether you are using it or not. It sounds like your rechargeable battery will no longer hold a charge. Use regular alkaline batteries.
