why can't i open some web sites?

Question

i downloaded avg and adware, i still can't access some sites. esp government sites and some others in my favorites....why can i access some and not others....i never had this trouble before, all sites in my favorites were accessable.....

IIE?Tools/Internet Options/Security
check your security settings for different internet zones.
2. Download Firefox from www.mozilla.org/firefox
and try. You can switch to IE with the add-on IETab
It is advisable to have another browser to locate a problem.
