Good question. Luck - a bit like the force in star wars. Everybody wants to use it, but nobody can really pin it down. I guess, we have luck when things work out, an don;t when they don't. Some people say you don;t need luck when you have skill. After all who would say that Michael Shumacher, or the Aussie cricket team were simply lucky? I think that luck is a state of mind thing. if you believe, then you are basically being positive and to some extent hopeful about a situation. Perhaps, in a modern day sense when we pray for luck in things that are somewhat out of our control such as gambling a loved one travelling across the world safely, then we are praying to the god of luck like some ancient greek or roman. I reckon if there can be god or supreme being then there is also room for luck. Hope you enjoyed my answer.

There are as many views of "luck" as there are people in the world-- with only certain similarities within those different views--
What is considered "luck" to most people is nothing more than a series of circumstances that "come together" in a particular order to create an outrageously fortuatous outcome to a particular matter !! Some of this just simply happens out of the random falling together of a series of remotely associated events or circumstances--- other instances happen out of the careful engineering by someone with a vision toward "progress" ---- Therein lies the view of some that " one makes their own "luck" "
Most usually people have a tendency though--- of proporting "luck" to a situation Once something fortuatous Does Happen ----the after-the-fact call------Man, he sure was lucky to have_______happen the way that it did !! It is much easier to say and relate to than----- Man, he sure had a lot of things happen in just the right way at just the right time to see that this particular thing came off the exact way that it did for him !!!
Great question --by-the-way
Hope I did it justice !!

I don't believe in it.
But, when I try to explain what I feel about "luck" and how it doesn't exist, I come closer to believing in it than any other time, lol. What I believe IN is this: I believe in something called Fortune. How does this differ from Luck? Luck is a random happenstance that has no random chance of occuring, it just does. Its like in physics, when in the quantum vaccuum of outer space, something (energy) appears out of NOTHING. Then, pop, its gone again, like it never existed, that's Luck.
Fortune is when things ADD UP. When you've dotted and "i's" and crossed all your "t's" and made sure everything is done properly and then you get just a LITTLE extra bump, nothing extraordinary, but a little to keep you going. That's fortune. Fortune makes sense, you can even see it coming sometimes and can feel let down when it doesn't happen. You don't feel that way with luck because IT ISN'T supposed to happen. So, I like to feel fortunate.
The sad thing is, everything is geared to Luck. You don't say, "I feel fortunate" unless your grateful for what you have. You say, "I feel lucky," to mean that kind of fortune. So, in some ways, you have to say LUCK to get people to understand what your talking about. Do you say "I feel fortunate, or I feel lucky?"

I think having a positive mind set brings about more occurrances of luck to you. You certainly attract more natural goodness to yourself through a positive outlook rather than a negative one. When the mind and attitude is positive, you tend to be more receptive and open, to people, ideas, whatever, and so you will likely discover more answers, find more opportunities, etc. Negativity shuts doors, closes the mind, blocks the heart, so if luck were around, you'd probably not recognize it by the sheer fact of not being in a receptive state to receive such luck!

One time, a very uptight (ex) friend of mine told me he was trying to look for someone's house, couldn't find it, and that he would try again the next day. I wished him 'Good luck', and he flipped out on me, saying luck was a heathen practice, a pagan ritual, etc. etc.
I think sometimes people are more fortunate than others. But I don't go as far as my friend did.

I beleive, and yet i dont. Hai*, i have my reasons to beleive, and not to.
~BELEIVE~
1) Near-death- experiences
2) Experience
~DONT~
1) Experience
Ok, fine. I dont know why i do and dont beleive. Guess i put to much Logic into it when i think about it. If i dont, then... i guess... i dont think at all when i dont think... ... ... great. I JUST finnished an Apple and now my nose is all STICKY!!!! CURSE YOU STUPID LUCK!!! (thinks) Wait... IS there such a thing as luck? Eh, who knows? They should call it "20 Wonders of the World" instead of "7 Wonders of the World". SO MANY QUESTIONS! TOO MUCH LOGIC! SO LITTLE ANSWERS!!!
