Go slowly if you have to, but at some point you have to face them. I find that if I think about it for a bit, realise that logically nothing really bad will happen, take a deep breath and then just do it. I was scared of heights, but when I started my apprenticeship as an electrician, I had to keep getting up ladders, which freaked me out. The first time, I just climbed up, and was so proud of myself. After forcing myself up those ladders for a while, I came to realise that it wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be and odds were that I wasn't going to fall off if I was careful.

Remember, too, that 99%of the time, the end result is nothing like what you thought it'd be, nowhere near as scary s you made up in your mind, not as hard as you imagined. I was scared to get a divorce from my druggo ex-husband because I thought it would be too scary and lonely to be on my own, but eventually I realised it was the right thing to do for my kids, took a deep breath and just did it. It was hard for a while, but it didn't kill me!

Good luck!

Consider overcoming your fear as the only option to get what you need done, done. If there is no way of avoiding it, all you can do is overcome it.

Be a little "thick skin" and don't care what people comments on you. Try being an "opposition" and "argumentative" type. Put people fear you more than you fear other people.

I think if you put any fear in perspective to the rest of existance it really becomes miniscule and easier to deal with when you can look at it in this way.

you can cultivate loving-kindness. if you see anyone on the way to work, on the way home, you try to smile with them and think that you love them all.
gradually, you feel self-confident and your fear will be sweep out logically.

face them GRADUALLY. If a person is afraid of... swimming in water, after seeing Jaws. You would start with a swimming pool - stay in the shallow end. If they don't already know how to swim, teach them. swim with them to the deep end, have them swim by themselves to the deep end, take them to a lake, have them swim in the shallow areas, etc.
