The benefit is a major fine. Not suggest doing it. There are major fines and a loss of repair license to a repair shop that will do it. Any repair shop that will do it is not worth going to, if they don't care about doing that, they will have no problem screwing you over too. Bottom line is, its against the law! Solution, you can buy cats. they are performance cats. with very little restriction in exhaust flow.

removing the cat will let the engine breath better but its illegal in most states to remove it. Auto part stores used to sell test pipes to put in place of cats but people left them on cuz it made the car run better. The test pipe was only a tool to determine if the cat was plugged when your car would only go 30 mph. Last I heard if you got caught with no cat it was a stiff fine cuz of the pollution laws. BE CAREFUL

It's easy (although you probably will not pass State Inspection after it's done). Just take the car to your nearest muffler shop and have them pull the catcon and replace it with a piece of tailpipe. The only "benefit" is that you'll never have to pay for catcon replacement (of course, as stated, you won't pass emissions inspection).

Do you live in a state with inspections? If you take it off you won't pass.
