I was wondering if it is legal for an employer to record the conversations between employees in state of Michigan? Regardless of if the conversations are business related or not. Can the employer legally eavesdrop one his/her employees by setting up video surveillence that records voice? I am not talking recording phone calls. Any websites proving this either way? Thanks.

If you use the company's assets to communicate then you are subject to their rules.
If you use the company telephone to talk personal business then you are not using tghe comany resources for business.

However, if you and your coworkers talk to each other outside of work from home or out at lunch off the premises, then the firm would need a warrant to eavesdrop. But as long as you are on their property and using their assets, then you are subject to being monitored.

you are able to record what you want - yet without the guy's consent it isn't usable in any difficulty. It comes lower than entrapment. besides, take earnings - fake you don't understand he's there and recording and ask one in each and every of your collegues if she's frightened of snakes as there is one in the workplace. ..........And watch what you're saying. The boss gained't imagine really of him for bringing particular conversations to his interest. Bosses understand finished properly that they get suggested as at the back of their backs - that is area of the territory and known. Having to take heed to it ought to have made him experience uncomfortable and he will resent the burk for putting him in that position.

yes
inside of the workplace, you have no rights to expect privacy ( save for the bathroom, the ONLY place he cannot video / audio ),
if you use the company / computer / phone , whatever he can monitor it 24/7 365, outside of the property in public you still have no privacy rights, you must be at home to have a reasonable expectation of privacy

Under some circumstances, yes it is. This has been enabled by new federal labor law passed with the Patriot Act.
