Because it is very unpopular to be gay and he wont be accepted unless he is.
Look, he is an evil little man not because he is gay but because he is a fraud.

Just like in all situations where someone in the public eye does something that most find wrong or disagree with they go into "rehab" or "counseling" and magically they're a whole different person. It's basically code at this point to say "I'm getting out of the public eye until this thing clears."
He's still a flaming homosexual. The first time I saw the guy on TV and knew NOTHING about him I wondered why this gay guy was on TV and then I found out he he some evangelical leader. The only people he is fooling is his family (if they really believe him) and the "sheep" who follow these scary evangelical teachings.
The only thing it taught this guy is to be more careful the next time he wants to do a line and get some from a prostitute.

Oh cool! If he's completely straight now, I'm seven feet tall!!! I can go in the Big Otter's Pond now!!!!.....and I have some land over in Britian to sell you at a very reasonable price...
That's the only problem with liars. They lie, they lie some more and then they do it again. Just because they claim to be religious men doesn't make them any less of a huge fibber. Look at Fallwell. He can weep and blubber all he wanted but I'll still bet he was back with those lovely mesdames de nuit the next week.
I'd still like to be at least a half foot taller than I am though...but that's what chairs are for...Blessings.

He didn't, he's lying, as he has been ever since he got caught -- one lie after another.
Ted Haggard is not, and was never straight. This is his latest attempt to salvage a very lucrative career. His "I only had sex with a male the one time" ploy having already failed when a second gay man came forward to point out that Haggard picked him up at a gay club for consensual sex.
"counseling from the clergy?" Let me tell you something, all the clergy that I personally know, and I know ALOT of clergy, would tell him to start by admitting that he is fully and has always been homosexual. Be honest with himself, be honest with his wife, be honest with the other "fundamentalists" and become the person he has always been.
The clergy that Mr. Haggard is consulting however live in continual and unending lies, of which this is only the latest to be supported by their false religion.

No, it's obvious that he is lying. Okay from a normal standpoint... honestly, if I saw him walking on the streets, my gaydar would tell me that he is gay. He just has that "excitement" on his face, and I don't know who he is trying to fool with thes bunch of lies about just having consensual sex with that guy (whom btw is pretty hot... but that's besides the point). I think he's trying to revive his dead evangelical career coz there's lots of money involved, and in addition, he is ashamed of who he is to even honestly admit to himself that he is a homosexual man -- too ashamed and afraid of its repercussions: losing friends, clergy members who are still behind him, his wife... there is a lot of fear but that is no excuse for lying because teens who are gay might think that something is wrong with them and would want to change too. I think this is a total act of selfishness on his part and if he had any sense left in him, he will come forward on national tv and admit that he is a gay man and that he can't change, and apologize to the people he has hurt, but he'll never do that. He's always reminded me of Freddy Krueger for some reason anyways, especially when he grins.

The truth is that he is caving in to brain-washing (intimidation and denial of his true nature). It's also called "people pleasing" or "keeping up appearances" -- anything to make it seem that everything is OK for the public eye. The truth is that he is in denial -- especially when he admitted earlier that he has been struggling with his homosexuality for all of his adult life. This is not a switch that gets turned on or off -- regardless of how much "therapy" he receives. I feel sorry for him in some ways, but he is the one who is making his own choices. He must be very miserable inside, but he is putting on the smiling face of assurance -- false assurance.

His adultery and meth use aside, there's no longer something good relating to the Evangelicals who gave the international the form of high quality, upstanding occasion of Christian fundamentalist values. final fall, the Christian Evangelicals, as suggested by using their very own leaders in "faith and usa", recommend for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government if their radical elementary schedule isn't made into legislations. they are nevertheless education their very own toddlers for conflict against their very own buddies who do no longer share their one-and-purely-organic-and-suitable set of "virtues", even after the infamy and public concern following the video "Jesus Camp." those human beings and their UN-American family members values propose this usa and something human beings harm.

Good question. I obtained the following quote from a Denver news station that was covering Haggard's rather expeditious retreat into heterosexuality:
"Rev. Tim Ralph of Larkspur, one of four ministers who oversaw Haggard's three weeks of intensive counseling, told The Denver Post that Haggard is convinced he's heterosexual and his behavior wasn't a constant thing."
Notice Rev. Larkspur's use of the word "convinced."
There is no claim that anything has changed with regard to Mr. Haggard; merely the assertion that he is *convinced* he is heterosexual.
Because that's all that the so-called ex-gay programs do. They convince. They coerce. They combine mechanisms of religious authoritarianism, group pressure, and self-deception in order to "convince" people of something they want very badly to believe.
Heck. If you want, you could say that's pretty much the job of religion in general.

Evidently you have not learned of the latest where even the most dissolute man or woman my recover his or her virginity by counseling with a clergy man or woman.
I am more surprised that it took three weeks since I believe a real gung-ho clergy man could have smote him and done it instantaneous
To go from heterosexual to homosexual and then become a clean slate heterosexual again is easily done by the clergy. Don't tell me you can doubt the actions of those good people.
