Many universities have a time limit on a degree...but in general a university wants to graduate people in 4 years. Five is increasingly normative. It is not uncommon to take seven to eight if one is working. As for how others will perceive you if you take a long time..it will depend on what else you have been doing. If you are active in work or sports etc...no one will question you. If you have taken eight years and have only been active in the bong and beer club....you might have some splanning to do. DA

That depends on what you are doing at the same time. If you are a full-time student, you should finish your undergraduate degree in four years, but if you are working full-time and/or raising a family while taking one or two classes at a time, it could take years.

That only covers undergraduate programs, and there is nothing wrong with spending well over a decade, for example, if you plan to be a physician and include medical school and residencies in the total.

I was 45 when I finished my last degree, but that included 3-1/2 years on the undergraduate degree, 2 on the master's, 3 on one doctorate and 4 on the other, and a lot of time spent working both in between and while in school.

silly mistake on the word too! Who cares!

Anyhoo, Just as long as you are not playing around in college, take as much time as you need. but remember the time span will show on your transcripts.

It can take awhile, you can make it shorter by taking summer courses. I highly recommend doing that. But don't get frustrated though, just don't think about it and just finish it. A lot of people don't even get a degree, ya'll be proud once you receive that degree. :)
