The NCAA needs a playoff system. The BCS is a joke.

Yes, we need a playoff system or fix the BCS so politics stays out of the pairing of the correct teams playing for the National championship. There is no valid reason why Florida should have been in the BCS Championship over Louisville. Clearly Louisville is the superior team and the team that should be the National champions. But politics got involved and the best conference in college football, The Big East, was left out of the BCS Championship game, in favor of a traditional football conference, the SEC.

besides splitting up the money, it would make the senior to rookie year unbearable for new players to the league. most rookies hit a wall towards the end of the season because they are so physically exhausted. they're busy from training camp through the season, then the post-season comes along, then the senior bowl and any all-star challenge-like activities the player participates in. along with all of this, players are preparing for the combine. after the combine, players have a few weeks off through the draft until spring mini camp. until this time, players are still trying to keep their grades up in college. during summer practice and two-a-days, rookies are just trying to prove that they belong on the roster. then comes the preseason, when many rookies see a lot of playing time. after the regular season is over, and the postseason comes around, a rookie starting om a weekly basis is subject to physical fatigue because they are asked to do so much without much of a break. ben roethlisberger is a good example. he started 16 games in his rookie year (2 in playoffs). his last game that year, ben looked tired, like he just couldn't go any farther. adding another two or three games for playoffs would only worsten the screeching halt that accompanies the end of their first nfl season.

Tough question, I think the term should really be Pay-off instead of play-off though. Because until the universities resolve how to split the monies that the playoff would generate, it won't happen. And then if it does.. what about the small conference schools like Boise? Would they have even made the playoff format criteria? With each BCS bowl game worth approx. 14 million dollars to the universities, there would have to be firm guidelines in place to spread that cash around..

Oh definetly, fans would love it and you could actuall tell who the best team is and it gives scouts something else to look at to see if they're consistant in the big games or if they just had a good game in the one bowl game.
