In Nevada, prostitution is legal in some counties. They have to follow very tight liscencing laws, STD laws and be test regularally. Since 1986, when mandatory testing began, not a single brothel prostitute has ever tested positive for HIV.The mandatory condom law was passed in 1988. Now for the question, should Prostitution be legalized across the US?

I just have a couple of things to say.
First of all, Nevada is a whole state, not just a city, and prostitution is actually illegal in the city of las vegas. Las Vegas is a pretty nice place to live too. You see, all of you who come here on vacation and are waited on by waitresses, limo drivers, hotel workers, etc. Those are real people! And they actually live here and have families and stuff, for real!
Secondly, I am a legal prostitute who works in Nevada. I don't need drug counseling because I've never used drugs in my life. Oh, except for the percocet the doctor prescribed me after I had a c-section. See, I have kids too, and I'm happily married. I own a nice home here, I'm active in my kids schools, and in my community. I also pay a huge amount of taxes every year.
I'm tested for aids once a month and for other std's every week that I work.
I'm not an anomaly either. Most of the women I work with are the same as me. We're normal, nice people. We are not crack whores. A crack whore would not be hired at a legal brothel for oh so many reasons.
Anyways, for all of you who judge me, maybe you should take a good long hard look in the mirror. Because I have a great family and a great life and if you can't accept that then it's your problem, not mine.
Oh, and by the way, we are licensed. Legal prostitutes are licensed by the county in which they work.

I accept as true with MadelineSoCal. i will supply a guy a b-job for a dinner and a movie, yet to pass the dinner and basically get the money is a criminal offense?!?! Ridiculous. i detect it interesting that so typically, the reason no longer to legalize it really is that women human beings opt to be secure. i'm sorry, yet isn't that shown reality that it really is presently unlawful the reason that prostitutes are victimized? even as something is against the law, then an abused individual can not pass to the police. Their workplace isn't below any scrutiny. Their operating situations or state of well being are not to any extent further regulated. unlawful prostitutes' pimps are in reality operating a secure practices racket - and prefer countless secure practices racket, this is always the guy "amassing" this is the largest danger. I do not forget that area of the rules in Nevada are that a pimp/madam/brothel structure is needed - yet i'm no longer positive i'm top about that - if one needed to make it legal and not in any respect have women human beings taken income of, enable self-employment and unions. what's the large deal? basically because something is legal does no longer mean all people's REQUIRED to do it. in case you've faith this is incorrect, do not partake. :) AT

I'm conflicted about this.
For the most part I agree it should be legalized. As long as the govt. has strict monitoring. They would have to be "licensed" or something of that nature, so they could be monitored. Anyone "practicing" without a license should be subject to jail time. Our Economy would would benefit, but the prostitues themselves would lose money. If anybody can do it, they probably will, lol.

But if they are monitoring the prostitutes, shouldn't they also have to test the "johns".
That seems like a pretty big ordeal for legalization. Then I am just not sure if I am for it, because if it is too easy, then would it increase the amt. of STD's and extra marital sex? If its legal what is to stop your spouse from driving over to the whore house, when they get mad?
So I'm still pretty conflicted.

I know it sounds horrible, but any Man that is so hard up he has to pay for it, is just pathetic. Seriously, sex is free if you know what you're doing. But to each their own I guess.

I believe that protitution should be legal. Infact I believe it will stop poverty and joblessness. I am a prostitution activist. Sex sells. Escorts are already legal. The problem is people think that it is immoral. Even those who do not are not brave enough to take a stand. This prostition has been talked down by our government. It has always been a believe by some African Men and Women that is only racism that it is illegal. It will therefore help the poor. If it is legal legalized then it has got to be organized. Tax reporting, Customer will have to provide valid I.D and thumb print. www.fettitalks.blogspot.com

Sure but with very strict guidelines. As you've already noted there must be government regulations in place. It's safer for everyone, if you look at Europe the incidence of sexual assault is almost zero. The fact that the women in regulated environments are less likely to be assaulted and they will work in environments that are clean and sanitary also helps. It's a win win situation and taxes are collected to boot!

Nope, although I am very glad to hear that no prostitute has ever been tested positive for HIV. It still shouldnt be legal, it sends the wrong message, that it's a perfectly normal job for women, and some men, and they should be sendin the message that it is wrong. So I think they should not legalize prostitution..and leave it legal in NV....because thats a ****** up city as it is.

they did make it legal in newzealand and it cut off alot of money to the drug dealers. it makes since the gangs where making the money from he prostitutes and the government now gets the taxes.the churches in the states here wouldn't let this happen because they would be missing out on the money being made.

It is the oldest profession and by legalizing it, the government could earn extra revenue through taxes. But it would require stringent control with respect to health.

Actually I don't see why not. Its a victimless crime.

However I do think its a bad thing and morally it eats people up from the inside out. Women and men should have more self respect.

But No, I don't think it should be illegal.
