I'm looking to UP the horsepower on my V6 2005 Mustang, but I don't want to go overboard like in "Pimp My Ride" or anything! Wondering if there's any minor details to accomplish this.

I've heard about chips, dual exhaust tips, bla bla..

Forgive the ignorance, not a mechanic here. Just wondering.

Well, the simplest way to pump a couple more ponies out of a mustang(doesn't matter what engine) or pretty much any car, is let it breath better, that is, high performance air intake, performance exhaust/resonater, and better quality fuel(possibly an octane booster... Outlaw makes a great booster..) I suggest a cold air intake system, normaly they just bolt up in the factory position, a beginner can do it. Air-Raid makes a good one, or K&N has a bolt on cold air intake. Then, if you want to do it yourself, jack up the car and get the angle your exhaust comes together at and make an x-pipe, or just cut it where its at and do a makeshift x-pipe, then run a dual exhaust system with performance mufflers, Flowmaster frees up a pretty good amount of power, but so does Magnaflow or Dynomax.

The quickest and best way to improve power on any car truck or SUV is to change out the way the engine breaths you can do this by just changing out to a high flow filter like K&N air filters if you want to go farther then get a cold air intake with a k&n fliter and get an improved flow on your exhuast if thats not enought try getting a chip
