That's a good question...

The division goes back to the 70s with the uprising of Karl Rove. Karl Rove figured out that manipulating prejudices and hate was the number one way to motivate ppl to vote a certain way. Ppl will vote AGAINST something before they vote FOR something. IE, gay marriage.

Karl Rove has been quoted as saying his two favorite propaganda issues in a campaign to use is gay marriage and abortion.

Listen Buddy!... I am a Republican and have been for 37 years. I got into politics at the age of 20. In all years office, I have yet to see a single Republican that has said they hate Democrats... In my office nor on a nation wide picture. One of Republicans "mottoes to live by" is to always practice bipartisan service. We can not help it if Democrats will not allow us to proceed.

It's a two-way street. Try listening to Sean Hannity's radio program some time. He runs the recordings from the "Hate Hannity" line and about half of the "comments" have to be beeped because of the language. There has never been any real comments as to why they disagree with Sean, rather it takes about 5 seconds at the most for the threats, personal attacks, and insults to begin.

The democrats are just too damned idealistic.
Their live and let live policies will be the death of this country - despite the terror, the slaughter of thousands of innocent people, the declaration of war, the threats and the events of 9/11 - they just don't seem capable of grasping the fact that there are groups of people in this world that want to destroy this country.
And, for what it's worth, I don't "hate" democrats - it's their unrealistic view of reality that upsets me.

Al Qaeda has sent a message to leaders of the Democratic party that credit for the defeat of congressional Republicans belongs to the terrorists.

In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.

"The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost," Zawahri said, according to a full transcript obtained by ABC News.

Hate goes both ways in politics. One side's extreme tries to get the upper hand on the other. It is a two way street. Check the link for an example

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that many Democrats seem to repeatedly act in a way that is detrimental to the US that us Republicans love.

You don't honestly think the Dems treat Republicans any different, do you?

Not all Republicans hate Democrats. I know many that don't.
The ones that "hate" Democrats only do so because they don't understand them.

I think you have it the other way around, I don't see any anti-Democrat bumper stickers plastered all over cars and from the post you see here I think you should take a good look inside yourself.
