In Texas it obviously does not snow very much and when it does its very thin and only last for a few days. On the rare occasion when it does ice it would be too thin for skates but for kids that want to go sliding on the ice like they were skating would get plastic grocery bags and then place them over their shoes use a rubber band to hold them in place around the ankle and just slide on those. If you push down hard enough with the side of your foot or your heel you can stop otherwise you just kind of glide.

Okay first thing you do is go dip your shoes in a puddle of water then let them set outside after that go jogging anywhere in West Michigan and you will do plenty of skating(or slipping or sliding or something like that)

ABOUT SIXTY YEARS AGO AND BEFORE THAT THERE WERE AVAILABLE BLADES WITH METAL FOOT RESTS,, ONE REST FOR THE FRONT OF THE FOOT AND ANOTHER REST FOR THE BACK AND ALL YOU DID WAS STRAP THEM ON YOUR OVERSHOES OR SHOES AND SKATE ACROSS THE POND OR LAKE. I HAVENT SEEN THEM LATELY IN THE STORES BUT YOU MIGHT ASK OR CALL A SKATING EQUIPMENT STORE AND SEE IF THEY HAVE THEM IN THEIR CATALOG. THEY MAYBE A SEASONAL ITEM SO NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO GIVE THEM A WHISTLE.

Attack them with pompoms and glitter, don an outfit that makes Liberaci look straight, and spin around, dramatically pirouetting occasionally and humming a tango. :)
