Every time I've gone to Key West, I've almost stayed. It's such a funky, artsy town. It has a party every night, and seems to never sleep. Anything goes, but if you want to be around "traditional" families, they are there walking around gawking every day. Gorgeous sunsets, and lots to do: fishing, sailing, snorkeling, biking.

been there twice and i couldn't live there..personally the heat and humidity would do me in..from talking with people who worked there alot mentioned they could not afford to live directly in key west but a few keys up the highway...from reading the local papers it did seem like the rents were high...and i don't think i could personally take all the tourists

Although I live in South Florida, I've only been about 3 times.
It's far. Fun to visit, but not for me to live. Too much of a tourist city without enough for full-timers.
I lived in Palm Springs, CA and although that was a tourist town, it had enough for full-timers: movies, concerts, shows, shopping malls, non tourist stores, good restaurants, etc

If I had unlimited funds, I could live there in a heartbeat. Beautiful sunsets, beaches on all sides, and everything is not all about Duval Street.
