Like say Bush got the flu or something and couldn't be president for a long time and Cheney had to take over.

Firstly, if Bush "had the flu for a long time" that wouldn't mean he couldn't be President.

Even when Reagan was in a coma after he was shot and Al Haig tried to get a coup d'etat going, Bush (41) refused on constitutional and moral grounds to go along with it. And I firmly believe Cheney would do exactly the same.

Now, if Bush died or was permanently incapacitated (say, suffered a severe stroke or was in a very long-term vegetative state), it would be a different scenario. In fact, the scenario was examined in the docu-drama "Death of A President" which I recommend everybody sees if they can. It in no way advocates Bush's assassination; rather it examines the political implications of a hypothetical assassination in a very mature way.

The death or incapacitation of any US President has huge global ramifications. That's something that very few people really put any thought to, even though over 40 years later we still talk about JFK's assassination like it was yesterday...

Mr Cheney would continue with Bush's policies, but he doesn't smile much, so I think if he ever took office, the rest of the world and their hypocritical words had best watch out for him! He is tougher than Bush, and although I like Bush, Cheney knows way more than him, and will rock the terrorist dorks on their azzes, and that includes the liberals!

We'll go straight to hell in a hand basket. He is more strident that President Dimwit. He has been the puppet master but he has not quite been able to pull off his unitary governmental view, I think he would dissolve Congress and declare himself Emperor for life (what little he would have barring a defibrillator malfunction)

I think that would be good for America in the sense we would finally be able to see for sure that Cheney is the one behind the scenes running the show.
