The Who touring the album Who's Next in Charlotte, NC. All were alive and in top form, plus they still used lasers.
Close second and in the same building was Jimi Hendrix with opening act (get this) Chicago (the Chicago Transit Authority). I may have been the only one there who loved both.

When I was young it was Slayer and Anthrax who tie for first on my list they both put on great shows. I was at a Guns and Roses one 15 years ago and Axl Rose left in the middle of a show and did not come back so that was my least favorite.

musically, it was robin trower at the odeon concert club in cleveland, ohio. for showmanship, the stones in detroit, though i am drawing a blank on the name of the stadium in detroit. i always thought the stones were alright, but after seeing them live, i am a huge fan.
