Does anyone else think it's odd that the left keeps whining about global warming....?

When it's hot out, it's global warming and when its cold out, its global warming too? So when the weather is just having its normal fluctuations, that's all of a sudden global warming.

Global warming doesn't refer to short-term environmental changes. It describes small overall ambient temperature fluctuations over a long period of time - 50 years for example.

I think that the temperature abnormalities of recent years (although due to El Nino) are just a catalyst for attention. People notice that the weather is strange, so they immediately jump to global warming as the reason.

Now I completely agree with the global warming theory, because there has been an overall global temperature increase, the ice caps are melting at an accelerated rate, greenhouse emissions have increased, and innumerable other things are going on.

If you don't believe in it, then that's your choice. Just try not to make the same mistake that other people are making - remember the scale of global warming - global, not regional.

by the way, global warming theories have been in the works for at least 30 years, so it's not a "sudden" thing if that is what you are implying. People are just paying more attention to it now.

When I was young the issue was Global Cooling. Then all of a sudden we were saved and it turned to Global Warming.(mid 1970's)

Any kind of weather pattern now will be somehow absurdly linked with global warming. A warmer than normal winter? We'll most likely make up for that with a cold spring or a blizzard filled winter next year.

I remember back in the 70's we had a -70 below day in Michigan with the windchill. There was certainly no talk of global warming then. The earth is in fact warming but the cause of it is what is causing all the argument.

Daily weather has nothing to do with it, dude. It's average temperature changes across the planet.

BTW, "Global Climate Change" was changed from Global warming, because it sounded less severe to the oil industry who was instumental in changeing the topic and title of it. It's a euphanism just like 'ethnic cleansing' is a euphanism for genocide. Or, like "Collateral Damage" is a euphanism for killing and bombing Civilians by the military. It just paints it in a prettier picture but the reality is that it is very very horrible and ugly.

Actually that is one thing I will credit the president for phrasing correctly.......it is global climate change!

We are releasing pollutants into the air. We have been for about a century. Do you really not think it is affecting the ozone?

By affecting the ozone it is screwing up the natural "insulation" in regard to the earth and the sun. It will make summer's warmer and winter's cooler! I really don't understand why this is so difficult to understand.

Didn't they just have a summit in some neutral country or wasn't it a presentation to the UN that 100's of the world's scientist came together to provide the "real science" of the problem?

It is NOT odd at all. Liberals NEED you to be disturbed about something, something only THEY can help you with. It needs to be something that can not be easily refuted. A few years ago, it was a hole in the ozone and freon (hydrocarbons) were the cause. So they made all the manufacturers switch to a non-hydrocarbon refrigerant in automobiles. That wasn't drastic enough for them, now they want to shut down industry in the USA and allow so called green house gas producers like India and China continue. This is a plan to transfer wealth from the wealthy, the USA, to the poor.
They want to try the Socialism experiment again, even though it has failed every time. Anyone who keeps repeating the same experiment expecting different results is insane.
