This is a bit confusing. My mother is Black, but red hair tends to run in the family. Her half brother (the product of her father and step-mother) has red hair and freckles, and her brother had red hair (it turned black when he was in his 20's). Why would my mother's family have red hair when they are Black? My hair also tends to look reddish-brown and I have freckles, but I got the freckles from my father.

There is no telling if somewhere there is ancestor of yours was white and had red hair. But from what I have heard red hair is actually a genetic "defect" it can happen in all races.

im hispanic and i did a lot of blod line searches couse i was born with red hair and freckles a lot of people dont wana belve that they are mixed in your blood line i and you have white blood and only if those jeans on our blood are stronger then the other means they come out im also light skined and all my sisters are dark now my hair is black black and you can still see my freckles i found out my blood is spain,sioux and argantinan but like most people thank just couse there skin is one color then they are just all that type of person i dont now any body that is a full blood except for natives that still live in there on land and africans thats all. its just a dna thang and what strans you get and what blood is stronger thats all p.s. my facual hair the lil i got is red and black lol well hit me up if you need more help

There is a tribe in Africa I think called the Fulani that are known to have red hair and freckles.
