1. The digital displays of watches and other devices are normally polarized. What related problem can occur when wearing polarized sunglasses?

2. Why may an ideal Polaroid filter transmit anything from zero to 100% of incident polarized light?

3. How can you determine the polarization axis for a single sheet of Polaroid?

Thanks =)

1. if the direction of polarization of the sunglasses is perpendicular to the display, it will appear dark (no light reaches the eye).

2. If source is polarized in the same direction as the filter, get 100% transmission. If polarized perpendicular as the filter, get 0% transmission.

3. Use a second sheet with know polarization direction, then rotate either the unknown sheet or the known sheet until maximum transmission. The unknown sheet will have the same direction of polarization as your known sheet.

With literally hundreds of choices in Seattle and probably thousands in the greater Metro area, sushi is usually only a few blocks away. However, getting authentic, top quality sushi may be another matter. With sushi being offered everywhere from the gas station to the grocery store to some of Seattle's finer eateries, finding a sushi place with food that tastes like it came straight from Japan, and that has an authentic Japanese atmosphere requires a little more than running down to 711.
