I lost my plug 2 weeks before I went into labor and had sex many times after that and I'm fine and so is my daughter. The amniotic sac protects the baby as long as your water hasn't broke your fine.

OMG... you should NEVER have sex after mucous plug comes out!!! The mucous plug is there to prevent anything from going into your uterus and causing infection esp to the baby. Once your plug comes out, DO NOT put ANYTHING in there.. and call your doctor!!!
ADDED DETAILS:
Well, the PURPOSE OF the mucous plug IS to prevent infection. The water bag DOES protect baby, but being that the mucous plug is NOT there, makes a higher risk of infection, with or without the waterbag - infection to either you or baby. If you're unsure, as always, just ask your doctor yourself and make your own judgement.
Good Luck...

I have no idea what that last person was all about. The mucus plug comes out and it is no big deal....just a sign that labor is imminent....as long as your bag of waters is still intact, the baby is safe from any outside germs or infections. It is when the bag of waters breaks that you should definitely not do a thing (except get to the hospital!)

No, you should call your doctor as soon as the plug comes out as you could be dilated and in early labor at that point.
I had my baby less than 12hrs after losing the plug.
