on the lid, there should be a small finger lever that sticks out a bit. when the lid is closed, it goes hits a small switch. check to see if either the lever is broken or the switch is broken off. you can use something small to push in the switch to check it.

You might have to take a closer look at the printer because there might be a lever where the lid closes. Use something to get it where it won't move.

If none of the above answers work for you then uninstall and reinstall your printer again. this should do the trick.
