To those of you who seem to be saying that we do not spend enough on the military, you need to realize that the military budget this year will probably exceed $500,000,000,000. That's 500 with a b billion dollars, or half a trillion dollars. It's not a question of having enough money. It's a question of how to spend that money in the best way possible. It looks to me like the safety of the troops just isn't a high enough priority.

Congress passes the budget and decides how much is spent in the various departments.

They could not allocate enough money for adequate equipment for the soldiers.

But they are proud to say that the chairman of appropriations committee got the "bridge to nowhere" to that tiny island in his home state of Alaska! Yehaa!

It isn't just the idiot from Alaska, either. They all do stuff like that. They want to come back home and brag about the money they got to build new restrooms in the state parks, or some other foolishness.

There is a lot of BLAME to go around
First of all -- it is the JOB of the military professionals to KNOW the needs of the troops on the ground---AND they are supposed to be charged with the responsibility of making recommendations and doing the feasibility reports on all of that kind of stuff---- what happened there ?? Then there are the appropriations people in Congress who think it is far more important that THEY receive their pay raises and "pork programs" to pay all of their political supporters back for their campaign contributions than to see that the military has what they need to do THEIR job !!! Then you have administration people who simply do not CARE about anything until it becomes a public liability and then they go into a rampant ---blame everybody in the world to get it off OUR doorstep thing--- in order to keep the current problem off their agenda where they can get back to creating the One World Government that they SOOO desire !!!!

well i would like to say the tax payer but the fact is i don't think the military was letting anyone know that the military was weak in that area. i think that now that the tax payer does know its really all of the USA that must force the government to fix this problem and that the public must not rest until this is solved. its not the peoples fault to start with but its the peoples job to fix this .

Our Mr. Commander and Chief! George (Dumbass) W. Bush. He should be tried for murder for he has done. A first step would to be how to read the teleprompters they put in front of you. Take away his amored car and see what happens.

That's a no brainer. The democrats and the media.

I can't believe the whole nation use to back the Iraq war, as soon as things got tough for the US, you all decided that it was a bad decision.

Yes it was a bad decision to invade Iraq without the UN backing you guys up, but now that you've guys are in it, be responsable and take it to the end.

Make something good happen out of all this, USA needs to stay in Iraq and fix things up.

10 dollars says someone will blame Bill Clinton.

Edit: Woohoo, I win! Gotta love good old predictable neocons.

deg- How dellusional could you POSSIBLY be? You'd blame every single person in this country before blaming where it is due just to suit your own misguided views.
